At GLA Rehab, we work with individuals living with brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic injuries, mental health issues and chronic pain. We provide client-centred therapy within the community including the GTA, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, Hamilton, Durham Region, and Barrie.

Occupational Therapist Job Description

Our OTs provide discharge planning for clients in hospital or rehab settings, attendant care assessments, community based treatment to return clients to ADLs, cognitive assessment and treatment, case management services, OT Catastrophic Application Assessments, Case Management, Future Care Costs and Return to Work assessments.

We offer a clinical and SABS supportive work environment, competitive remuneration and the flexibility to manage your own work schedule and caseload.

We currently have openings for full time Occupational Therapists.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing client assessment in a community setting based on presenting impairment, disability or handicap, using standardized assessment tools
  • Designing a treatment plan using evidence based information, relevant best practice guidelines and clinical experience
  • Actively engaging clients, families, other team members and caregivers to address client centered goals
  • Linking clients/caregivers with appropriate community partners/services/agencies
  • Evaluating and documenting the effectiveness of the intervention, client’s response and progress towards goal attainment
  • Completing clinical records according to standards
  • Communicating effectively with clients, families and referral sources, including team members and office staff.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in Occupational Therapy
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in occupational therapy
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle as all work is community based
  • Computer skills
  • Critical thinking and decision making
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Experience working under the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) will be considered an asset.

Rehab Therapist Job Description

The Rehab Therapist and/or Registered Kinesiologist will work under the supervision of a registered rehabilitation professional to help implement therapeutic programs at the home, gym, school and other community settings to meet client’s needs.

All Kinesiologist applicants must be graduates of a University Kinesiology Program and registered with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario.

*A background working with head injuries and other severe impairments is an asset.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Support clients in achieving goals as identified by the occupational therapist, physiotherapist or social worker
  • Implement established protocols and intervention strategies for both cognitive and physical impairments
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional support for clients with psychological/psychiatric impairments
  • Liaise with families, friends, advocates, external agencies and rehab team about the client’s needs and care
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in verbal and written reports.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle as all work is community based
  • Critical thinking and decision making
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Experience working in the MVA/Personal Injury Sector will be considered an asset
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English

Social Work Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Social Work degree
  • Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers.
  • 5 years’ experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in verbal and written reports.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle as all work is community based
  • Critical thinking and decision making
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Experience working under the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) will be considered an asset

Physiotherapist Job Description

We are seeking Neuro-Physiotherapist  with a minimum of 3 years’ experience to join our Rehabilitation Team to provide community based therapy.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Physiotherapist in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle as all work is community based
  • Critical thinking and decision making
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Experience working under the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) will be considered an asset.

Massage Therapist Job Description

Provide consistent professional in-home massage and body treatments.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Spinal Cord Injury is preferred
  • Valid G Drivers License with access to a reliable vehicle as all work is community based.
  • Build a massage therapy client base by promoting GLA Rehab’s RMT service
  • Completes required client notes, documentation and invoicing of client files after each visit
